MRMC’s Milo family gets high-speed robotics boost

Robotics specialist MRMC has introduced Super Milo, which takes the macro precision of its Academy award-winning Milo and adds high speed and quick assembly, as well as significantly enhanced acceleration and reach.

Speeds of up to 3m/s on track, and 5m/s with combined camera movement, can be achieved for high-speed filming. Its brushless motors allow it to deliver speeds up to 100% faster and accelerations up to 400% quicker than the original Milo. The rig can take a camera payload of 35kg.

Is it a jib, is it a crane? No, its Super Milo

The geometry of the Super Milo allows for smooth, stable movements from below ground level to a maximum height of 6.1m. Easy-fit extensions allow it to offer flexible shooting configurations. Electronic lifting actuators expedite track setup, ensuring it can operate as a high-precision, high-speed rig suitable for macro, table top, CGI work and now high-speed live-action shooting. The setup takes under an hour and is fitted with an electric jacking system that makes rail assembly faster.
